WOMAC announces 2025 charities
  • Raise awareness of skin cancer through education, promoting prevention and early detection.
  • To engage higher risk target groups via bespoke educational initiatives.
  • To ensure the continued development, longevity and participation in our national accreditation schemes.
  • To campaign for change, make a difference and save lives.

Women On the Move Against Cancer (WOMAC) has committed to donating money to BRIGHT Cancer Care and Skcin - The Karen Clifford Skin Cancer Charity in 2025.

BRIGHT Cancer Care focuses on research and treatment options for patients with gastrointestinal (GI) and hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) cancers.

Its work funds research projects into different treatments for these cancers and funds new equipment for surgeries, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy and other advanced treatments.

Zoe Wheatley and Gerry Bowles, BRIGHT Events Fundraisers, said: “BRIGHT Cancer Care enables medical personnel and consultants to gather and publish data and evidence, influencing change in future practices and pave the way to a wider choice of treatments and improved outcomes for GI cancers including bowel, pancreatic and liver.

Monies raised by WOMAC will help with the purchase of a HoverMatt which enables a more comfortable and dignified patient experience.”

Founded in 2006 after the passing of Karen Clifford, Skcin was set up to boost awareness of skin cancer, promote prevention methods and early detection in the UK.

Skcin’s mission is to prevent people from becoming patients.

The most at-risk group is 15 to 34 year-olds with 1 in 4 men affected as opposed to 1 in 5 women.

The money raised by WOMAC over the course of the next year will go towards Skcin’s education campaigns to save lives through prevention and early detection.

Marie Tudor, CEO of Skcin said: “Skcin is delighted to be appointed as one of WOMAC’s charities of the year for 2025.

We feel incredibly grateful for this support and so very proud to be working with WOMAC.

“Skin cancer is 90% preventable and the way to combat the UK's most common and fast rising cancer is via the education of the risk factors and how to prevent the disease.

The funds raised will be spent on supporting our mission to educate and work with at-risk and influential audiences to root our education and embed this education in communities nationwide.

“Thank you so much for choosing Skcin, we feel honoured to be the fortunate recipient of your fundraising activities in 2025.”

Georgia Fox, Chair of WOMAC, said: “The two charities we have selected for 2024/2025 are again incredibly worthy causes.

As always both were nominated by our Committee and Patrons, who have sadly experienced the support provided by these incredible organisations first-hand.

“Team WOMAC along with its Friends and supporters will continue to work hard to raise funds and I’m hopeful we can reach our target, if not exceed it.

I would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support.”

The annual WOMAC fundraising event will be held on the Corinthian Roof Terrace at The Kia Oval, 17 June 2025.

The evening will be an opportunity to meet with industry colleagues and raise funds for two extremely important charities.
