WOMAC announces chosen venue for 2018 fundraising party

Women on the Move Against Cancer (WOMAC) is delighted to announce the venue for its annual party on Wednesday 21 February 2018.

Taking place between 18:30 and 22:30, with more than 200 guests expected to come together to raise awareness for a wonderful cause, the event will be held at The Kia Oval in Kennington, South London.

The party will host a buffet supper and the popular raffle and tombola will return to offer first-class prizes in return for your generous donations.

WOMAC has pledged its support for the Kidney Cancer Support Network in 2018.

The Kidney Cancer Support Network (KCSN), which was founded in 2006, is a patient-led network of kidney cancer patients, carers and family members affected by kidney cancer.

Founders Rose Woodward and Julia Black created the network to help kidney cancer patients come together, so that they may share their experiences and insights, and help improve knowledge and awareness of kidney cancer.

‘We are unique in that we are a patient-led charity founded by two cancer patients; we really do understand the heartache a diagnosis of cancer can bring.

Our vision is to bridge the gap between the medical team at the local hospital, and the day-by-day reality of living with a diagnosis of kidney cancer,’ they said.

‘Kidney cancer is a less common form of cancer and can be difficult to treat.

We believe that by providing patients with somewhere to turn to, and somewhere they can find comfort and friendship, the journey may be a little easier.

Our aim at the KCSN is to provide that place, and ensure no patient feels they have to face kidney cancer alone.

This has driven the growth of the network to become the largest and most active group of kidney cancer patients and carers in the UK.’

WOMAC’s support will help the Kidney Cancer Support Network to achieve its aims, including its one-to-one support helpline, a confidential patient support group, the UK’s only clinical trials database for kidney cancer, and a website, which contains invaluable up-to-date information about kidney cancer, treatment options, patient stories and useful patient help sheets.

Georgia Fox, Chair of WOMAC, added: ‘We are delighted to support the Kidney Cancer Support Network in 2018.

The work they do is vital in helping to guide, provide information and support anyone affected by kidney cancer.

We are all looking forward to raising awareness for such a wonderful cause.’
