Women On the Move Against Cancer launches silent auction

20 September 2021.

Women On the Move Against Cancer (WOMAC) has today launched its latest fundraising endeavour with a silent auction.

Automotive manufacturer and long-term supporter of WOMAC, Nissan, has kindly donated a framed football print which is now up for auction.

The framed print is from the UEFA Champions League final between Manchester City FC and Chelsea FC held at Estadio do Dragao, Porto on 29 May 2021.

The framed montage also includes a piece of the goal net from that game.

The match was an iconic moment in the football calendar as it saw Chelsea win its second Champions League trophy in a one-nil victory against its fellow UK team.

Those interested in owning this item are invited to email nicola.humphreys@imprimatur.co.uk by 13 October 2021 with their bid.

This year, WOMAC’s chosen charity is brainstrust, which has already received £10,000 in donations funding 125 brain boxes given to people who have just heard the devastating words “you have a brain tumour” as well as the charity’s Wonderful Memories appeal, honouring wonderful memories of incredible people no longer with us.

Each brainstrust brain box is an essential toolkit of tailored and accredited resources designed to support patients and carers.

Each person receives a special gift too, promoting the importance of self-care, and WOMAC supporter Rachel Brett, an independent Neal’s Yard consultant, donated hand creams. brainstrust also provides ‘little brain boxes’ for children and families.

Every penny really does count for brainstrust, with as little as £15 funding a place at one of brainstrust’s workshops; £40 covers the cost of providing a brain box; £100 pays for two hours of coaching; £300 covers six counselling sessions and £500 supports clinical research campaigns.

WOMAC’s donations have also funded a number of counselling sessions.

Georgia Fox, Chair of WOMAC, said: “A huge thank you to our friends at Nissan for donating this wonderful auction item, which I’m sure will attract interest from the many Chelsea fans out there.

“I hope this item will raise some more funds for what is such a well-deserving cause in brainstrust so we can make a further donation this year.

The charity does fantastic work and is a lifeline to those suffering from such a cruel disease in cancer.”

Donations in 2021 are going towards brainstrust which supports patients, caregivers and families facing a life-limiting brain tumour diagnosis, through offering practical advice and emotional support to improve their mental well-being.

About brainstrustA brain tumour diagnosis is frightening, isolating and has a devastating social impact. brainstrust helps patients, their families and carers to navigate the uncertainties that a diagnosis brings.

Many face mental health, cognition, dexterity and mobility challenges because of either the tumour itself or the treatment, and must learn to accept a new normal which is different to the life they have established.

It is a distressing and bewildering experience, and that is where brainstrust helps.

brainstrust provides personalised support and builds resources that help people with a brain tumour and their loved ones live the life they want to after diagnosis.

They work with people in the clinical setting to secure the best possible care for people with a brain tumour and campaign to solve real issues, because they understand the challenges faced by the brain tumour community.
